During this internship, my career choice has begun to change into becoming a vet tech rather than a human nurse. Learning about how different animal and human bodies are is amazing. One reason why I have begun to change my career path is because my mentors would tell how disgusting humans were and how if you were to get human blood on yourself, you have to wash it off immediately. If you were to get an animal's blood on you, you wouldn’t have to wash it off immediately. Another thing is, during my time at Bressi Ranch Pet Hospital, it was always so happy and positive.

I made a meaningful contribution to my internship by helping them with the little stuff such as wiping the counters down, spraying down kennels, filling syringes with IV fluid, supervising playtime, delivering papers, etc…
Internship was meaningful to my education because it help me expand on one of life's biggest lessons, responsibility. You really have to be responsible when your with dogs at the animal clinic because number one there not yours so you are responsible for what happens to them, number two most of them come in with either injuries or illness so you have to be responsible and look out for them. After creating my final product for internship I realized that the work I was producing at school was not nearly as good and had as much effort put into it as the things I was creating for school. One thing I noticed was how great my peer were with there people skill, taking care of customers, which is a big thing when trying to do anything in a medical field. Another thing that I saw my peers have that I need to develop more is patience. Internship has made me rethink my career in human nursing. These are some photos that I was able to take at my internship. Unfortunately, I was unable to take more photos because of patient confidentiality. I have used self advocacy when i'm not sure what a certain medication is I will ask what it is for
After Surgery I will ask questions about process or something in the procedure that I am unsure about. Asking if I can help them out with certain tasks such as walking the dogs or answering the phones, being proactive. I am one of the youngest Interns at Bressi Ranch Pet Hospital. I am memorable because of all the age restrictions that come with the position that I am in. I am also memorable because of the extremely awesome new Intern board I have created for them as my final product. For my internship project, I am creating an intern board because they have a lot of other interns and the current board they have for the interns is just a place to sign up and get a name tag. A skill that I needed while planning a project was observation. A skill I will need to finish this project would be creativity and planning. For this board, I have to do a lot of measuring and laying out before I can make all of the permanent marks. For this project, I need the helpful critique and useful input from my mentors.

For my internship, I'm going to be working at Bressi Ranch Pet Hospital and my mentor is Jennie Kelly. The typical work day is at 7:30 they treat the patients that stayed overnight, 8-9 they take in the drop offs, 9-12 they see their appointments, 12-3 they do surgeries and take lunch, 3-6 they continue seeing appointments and clean up to close. The general policies are if you're late too many times, they'll call you in for a talk and if you aren't going to come in, you need to call. The dress code is scrubs, close toed shoes and if you have long hair, it needs to be tied up. What I experienced on the first day is about the same as I expected. The only thing that I didn't expect is the radiologist to come in. During the day I went in, the radiologist came in to do ultrasounds on a couple of the dogs for multiple different issues. Dr. Lax performed a neuter on an 8 month old dog because he was having behavior issues at home. In the picture below, they took a lump out of a dogs leg that kept opening and bleeding every where when it would open. A couple of older animals came in but there was one cat that came in with a highly infected bladder that sadly passed away over night.
